The joy of family!

I had the privilege of spending Thanksgiving with my family and children for the first time since 2009. It was just like any other day, but my emotions ran so high I thought my heart might burst with overwhelming feelings of gratitude, love, excitement, sadness, anxiety, and any other feeling or emotion you could possibly imagine lol. My family means the world to me and on that day of November 22, 2012 I have never been more happy to be surrounded by family and people that love me and have supported me through thick and thin and continue to support me and love me as family should. I have two beautiful children who love me dearly. I am so thankful that I am here for them and they for me. They keep me strong when I am weak and lift me up when I least expect it. It is by the grace of God that I am here today and though at times I find it hard to see my purpose my journey consists of finding it. Every time I find myself complaining about something or sulking or falling into self pity the Lord taps me on the shoulder and reminds me of what has been and what could be. He reminds me of consequences of sin and to be thankful for what he has given me. He reminds me of his promises and his undying love for me. He stands with me through the pain and suffering and carries me through the muck and the mire that I would otherwise drowned in.

We celebrated Jacobs third birthday! He is getting so big, such a handsome little man. He enjoyed all the attention and birthday cake and ice cream as well as all the presents. As usual though he thought all the balloons were the best thing in the world since pie ha ha! Both Ava and Jacob play with them for hours, but the balloon fight with great grandpa was the best. Jacobs birthday isn't until the 26, but I will not be with him so we celebrated on Thanksgiving as he was originally a turkey baby!

We also decorated the Christmas tree a day later. It was so funny to see all the ornaments at the bottom of the tree and the top naked per say! We had to work hard to confiscate some ornaments before they were all used up to put some on the top of the tree. It was fun and I think they enjoyed it. We listened to Christmas music for the first, and most definitely not the last, time this year.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend and gobbled till you wobbled! As for myself I ate what I wanted and maintained my weight loss. NOW back on track till Christmas. Lets see if I can get in another 10 pounds on top of the 25 I've lost before the next holiday, roughly 4 weeks or so. Update on my diet and weight loss thus far soon!

Till next time have a safe and wonderful week!

I am starting this blog as a sort of a new beginning.  This past year has been a roller coaster of ups and downs and I have just recently in the past few months made so many changes in my life.  This blog will include my journey through weight loss and food addiction, various crafts, recipes, crocheting, knitting, my children my faith and anything that I find interesting :).   I have known how to knit, not very good by the way, for about five years now.  I have not practiced very much in the last year so it has become a bit lack.  I just recently learned how to crochet and am fairly good at it.  I can't read a pattern and am left handed which promotes a problem when learning. I mainly watch YouTube videos and learn very quickly.  I do various other crafts such as scrap booking, hair bows, baby bibs, and have dabbled in pot holders ha ha.  After a year of not cooking I am picking it back up.  Currently it is rather interesting ha ha and disastrous at times.  There are many times were I add to much salt or garlic or milk.  I have learned to use measuring cups and spoons, THEY ARE YOUR FRIENDS! My children are my life and they light up my world.  Everyday is full of wonder and joy. Watching them grow and learn is an experience I wouldn't trade for the world.

I have currently started a low carb diet and have now been on it for over a week now. I have been on a diet now for over a month and have decided to do a low carb diet due to my sensitivity to sugar and gluten and a low carb diet is what I am left with after you take those two things away pretty much ha ha.  I keep my daily food and exercise journal on a website called myfitnesspal.com.  Cooking has been interesting and has been hit and miss.  I have come up with a recipe that I rather enjoy a lot.  I don't really know what to call it so if anyone has any ideas let me know.  It is kinda southwestern and is HOT so beware!

 RECIPE # 1:

1 CUP UNCOOKED CHICKEN
1/4 CUP FROZEN CORN
1TBSP HOT SAUCE
1 OZ 2% VELVEETA CHEESE
3 ROMAINE HEART BOATS (SEE PICTURE)
SEASONING TO YOUR LIKING

COOKING:
Saute chicken, hot sauce, seasoning of your liking in non stick pan until almost done.  Add corn and let water cook off. Add cheese and allow to melt. Stir and mix well. Add to romaine boats and enjoy!

I am working on a blanket currently that will fit a twin bed (or should rather keeping my fingers crossed). It is a version of a granny square. It starts off as a circle and ends as a square. I got the idea from a blanket that my great aunt gave my grandmother that she gave me last weekend. I have to finish putting the border on all the squares and sow them all together. I am pretty tickled that I have crocheted this piece as I have done it by sight with no help from a video or pattern just from looking at the stitching! Here's what I have so far.

I plan on doing aqua then cobalt with a
black border on all of them separating
the colors. I will tie in the pink again later
on the border edging as well as the purples.

I also have been crocheting hats and finished a flapper cloche hat last night for my daughter it is rather cute and I plan to update it with a large rose like flower on the side as soon as I learn how to do those :). I will update with a picture of it when I do it later, but here is one with the finished hat!

This pattern was done with an I hook and half double stitch, double ccrochet, single stitch, and criss cross crochet. I attempted to do a shell stitch at the bottom and failed miserably, but it made a very pretty stitch so I continued I do not know what you would call that, maybe a ripple stitch I don't know ha ha, but it looks good. Made a nice brim for sure!

And I will end with this..
For the month of November I plan on finding something everyday that I am thankful for, small or large silly or serious I will post it. Today's was..a washer and a dryer, yup believe it! I must have drove past 10 Laundromats today and they were all packed. I thanked God that I did not have to count my quarters, dimes, and nickles anymore and wait an hour per load and wonder where my left sock went and where my lucky underwear went (still have to worry about the socks by the way)! I can do my laundry walk away and do something else and not wonder if someone else is going to take my cloths too. So Lord I am SO thankful that I have a washer and a dryer!
